Day 1: Explore the Bund and Nanjing Road

There's no better place to start your trip to Shanghai than at the Bund. This iconic stretch of waterfront boasts one of the most impressive skylines in the world. Take a stroll along the promenade and admire the stunning architecture of the buildings on either side of the Huangpu River.

Day 2: Explore the French Concession and Xintiandi

Shanghai's French Concession neighborhood is known for its tree-lined streets, art-deco buildings, and trendy boutiques. Start your day by exploring the area on foot and taking in the sights and sounds of this charming district.

Afterwards, head to Xintiandi, an upmarket shopping and entertainment district known for its upscale boutiques, restaurants, and bars. The area is a great place to grab a drink or a bite to eat and soak up the vibrant atmosphere of one of Shanghai's trendiest neighborhoods.

Day 3: Visit the Old City and Yu Garden

Shanghai's Old City is a fascinating glimpse into the city's past. Take a walk through the narrow alleyways and bustling markets and imagine what life was like in Shanghai before the skyscrapers and high-speed trains.

Afterwards, head to Yu Garden, a beautiful classical garden that dates back over 400 years. Take a leisurely stroll through the garden's winding paths and admire the pavilions, rock formations, and ponds. Be sure to check out the famous Nine-Turn Bridge, which is said to bring good luck to those who cross it.

Day 4: Visit the Shanghai Museum and Jin Mao Tower

The Shanghai Museum is one of the best places to learn about the city's long and rich history. The museum's collection includes over 120,000 pieces of ceramics, bronze ware, calligraphy, sculpture, painting, and jade.

After exploring the museum, take a trip to the Jin Mao Tower, one of Shanghai's tallest skyscrapers. The tower boasts incredible views of the city from its observation deck on the 88th floor. If you're feeling adventurous, check out the tower's Skywalk, a glass walkway that lets you look down at the city from dizzying heights.

Day 5: Day trip to Zhujiajiao Water Town

For your final day in Shanghai, take a day trip to the charming water town of Zhujiajiao. Located just an hour's drive from Shanghai, this ancient town is famous for its tranquil canals, stone bridges, and traditional buildings.

Take a boat ride through the canals, stop by one of the town's many temples, and sample the local cuisine at one of the many food stalls and restaurants. Zhujiajiao is a perfect place to wind down after a busy few days exploring one of China's most vibrant cities.
